I believe the three digit numbers 911, hold some meaning to almost every American. The emergency telephone system uses this number, standardized in the United States in the 1980′s. And most of us remember where we were at, or what we were doing, when the planes hit the Twin Towers in New York. However, for my family, 911 has an additional meaning.
Today, my parents have been married for 40 years!
They have honored their marriage vows throughout these 40 years: “for better or for worse” (2 kids-yes, that’s the “better” part…the passing of their parents and my dad’s weekly shift changes). “In sickness and in health” (my dad’s quadruple bypass last year). “For richer or for poorer” (they have made it work regardless of their finances). They have continued to love each other, through the passing of time.
To Tom and Robin, Happy Anniversary dad and mom! I love you!
