Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: 30 minute run
Tuesday: 25 minute HIIT run, 15 minute upper-body strength workout, crunches, push-ups
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Lower-body strength workout, 30 minute yoga DVD
Friday: 1 hour incline walk, crunches, push-ups
Saturday: 6 mile run

I was busy working on Valentine’s Day candy this week, so Monday’s workout was shortened and Wednesday’s workout was eliminated. This is a bad habit for me, and I know I need to plan my days a little better.
The yoga DVD’s that I have been using for the last 2 weeks, have been returned to the library. I did find a Jillian Michaels yoga workout that looks good, so I will be using that next week.  Change things up a little!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: 30 minute run, 15 minute upper-body strength workout, crunches, push-ups
Tuesday: Lower-body strength workout, 30 minute yoga DVD
Wednesday: 25 minute HIIT run, 15 minute upper-body strength workout, crunches, push-ups
Thursday: Lower-body strength workout, 30 minute yoga DVD
Friday: 45 minute incline walk, crunches, push-ups
Saturday: 5 mile run

I only made one small change this week- I switched Wednesday’s run to a HIIT workout. With trying to increase my speed, I thought a sprint workout would be beneficial. I will say that I am glad it’s a shorter workout- it’s hard! There’s no talking during the workout, unless you count me gasping for air after each word!! I feel good when I’m done though!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: 5 mile run
Tuesday: 30 minute HIIT
Wednesday: 20 minute run
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest

So I would like to say that I did better this week, but eh, not so much. The week started better, but finished poorly. On Sunday, I will be running a half-marathon (#11), and I can only hope that the running I have done all year (excluding these last few weeks), will get me over that finish line! This will also be my last half of the year. I will be backing off on the long runs (out of necessity- you think?!) and trying different workouts. Though maybe a few lower-mileage road races will work their way into the weekly recaps!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: 12 miles
Monday: 30 minute incline walk
Tuesday: 30 minute HIIT
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 30 minute incline walk
Friday: 15 minute HIIT (hey, you can still sweat a lot in 15 minutes!)
Saturday: 7 mile run

I’m still putting in some extra hours at work, so the 15 minute workouts might appear more often. However, it’s motivation to push hard for those 15 minutes, and the crap about feeling better after a workout, does hold some truth for me. It’s a good way for me to start my day!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 45 minute run
Wednesday: 25 minute HIIT, 100 crunches, 25 push-ups
Thursday: 45 minute run
Friday: 45 minute incline jog, 100 crunches, 25 push-ups
Saturday: 10 miles

Last Saturday’s run was tough. The distance (7 miles) was fine, but I had a knot in my calf. It finally settled Sunday evening. Yeah- not fun. But it was my own fault. I had very little water all week and this was my bodies wonderful way to remind me that I needed to drink more water. Needless to say, I have made a better effort this week!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: 30 minute run
Tuesday: 30 minute incline jog
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 30 minute HIIT
Friday: 30 minute run
Saturday: 9 mile run

I have some disappointing news. Ok, maybe it isn’t disappointing to you, but it is to me. The sun is rising later and later each day. That means I have had to resume running my weekday runs on the treadmill. I swear I could hear my treadmill laughing at me as I was pleading with the sun to rise earlier on Monday morning.  Oh well, that just means I need to appreciate my long runs (still outside- yay!) that much more!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rock’N’Roll Chicago Half-Marathon (recap here)
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 3 1/2 mile walk
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 30 minute HIIT, 25 push-ups, 100 crunches
Friday: 30 minute run, 50 squats, 20 plank roll-overs
Saturday: 8 mile run

After coming off the race on Sunday, I took it easy during the beginning of the week. I was a little sore on Monday, so Tuesday I just walked and used it as a good shake-out for my legs. A rest day on Wednesday, and I was ready to get back into a good workout on Thursday. I have another half-marathon coming up in early September, so I can’t slack off on the miles!

Tuesday: 30 minute HIIT (treadmill)
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 30 minute run
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest

It was a nice, easy (lazy) week! The humidity has been bad, however. You know it’s going to be a really warm day, when you walk outside at 5:30 in the morning and the air already feels heavy. I’m grateful that I can get my runs in early!

Have a good weekend!

Another week…another weekly running recap!

Sunday: Rest
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 30 minute run outside
Wednesday: 30 minute treadmill incline run
Thursday: 25 minute HIIT
Friday: 30 minute run outside
Saturday: 7 mile run

On Sunday, my mom, brother, and I, threw a surprise retirement party for my dad. I did all the cooking and baking (we had way too much food!), so my day started at 4am, and ended just before 9pm. I decided to skip Monday’s run in order to sleep in!!! Sometimes, extra sleep is needed more than a workout!

Runners…do you have any upcoming races?
